Young woman dies after two-car collision at Sharpstown intersection

HOUSTON, TX — A 22-year-old woman was fatally injured in a crash last Thursday, January 18, in southwest Houston that left two other people injured, according to the Houston Police Department.

The accident unfolded at 8100 Bellaire Boulevard, in the city’s Sharpstown neighborhood, at around 7:50 a.m.

A preliminary investigation by the HPD’s Vehicular Crimes Division found that the young woman was operating a Toyota RAV4 southbound on Waldo Street. She was turning left from a stop sign onto Bellaire Boulevard when the Toyota was hit by a blue MINI Cooper heading westbound.

The driver of the Toyota, whose identity remains undisclosed, was pronounced deceased at the scene by responding paramedics.

After cooperating with officials at the crash site, the 18-year-old male driver of the Mini Cooper and his passenger were both taken to a local hospital for minor injuries.

An investigation remains underway, but impairment is not believed to have been a factor in the fatal crash.
