18 year-old dies after leading police on chase ending on Whittington Dr.

HOUSTON, TX- A teenager who was chased for driving a stolen car died after crashing on Whittington Drive on April 3rd, Click2Houston reports.

The police found a stolen Kia Optima at 2310 Crescent Park Drive. It was parked next to another vehicle authorities suspected was stolen.

Police waited at the Crescent Park address until someone got into the Kia and drove away from the apartment complex.

Law enforcement attempted to engage with the suspect through a traffic stop. The suspect, however, refused to stop and the chase began.

The chase ended when the driver of the Kia crashed into a tree at 12600 Whittington Drive. The 18 year-old driver had lost control of the vehicle when the police struck his car in three PIT maneuvers.

The suspect was taken out of the vehicle by the same police officers, and the officers gave him first aid until the medics arrived. The young man was then flown to Memorial Hermann-Texas Medical Center where he died the next day.

The identity of the suspect has not been revealed yet.
