1 driver killed in fiery crash after running red light on Antoine Drive
HOUSTON, TX- A 34 year-old male driver died after he ran a red light at 4300 Antoine Dr., caused a crash, and then had his car catch on fire on Feb. 13th, the HPD reports.
The unidentified driver was speeding while driving south on Antoine Dr. At 9:35p.m., his Hyundai Elantra hit a Jeep Compass at an intersection as the Jeep was driving east on W. 43rd St. The Jeep had the right of way as the light for that road was green. The driver who caused the crash had a red light, which was not heeded.
After causing the collision, the Hyundai veered towards a median and caught on fire after hitting a tree. Once the fire department arrived on-site, the man was pronounced to be dead.
The other driver was not harmed and was released after questioning. He was a 59 year-old male.
There is an investigation being conducted on this case.
