Motorcyclist dies after crash on Southwest Fwy near Greenway/Upper Kirby

HOUSTON, TX — A 25-year-old man died Saturday morning after a motorcycle crash on the Southwest Freeway in Houston’s Greenway/Upper Kirby area, according to the Houston Police Department.

The fatal accident occurred in the 400 block of the freeway (South U.S. Highway 59) at around 4:50 a.m.

According to investigators, the man was operating a black Honda motorcycle southbound on the exit ramp, when, for reasons still unclear, he failed to maintain his lane. Moments later, the motorcycle collided with the outer guardrail, sending the rider off the bike.

Responding paramedics with the Houston Fire Department pronounced the victim deceased at the crash site. He has since been identified as Kaleb Cantrell.

No further information has been released at this time, but an investigation by the HPD Vehicular Crimes Division remains underway.
