2 dead, 1 left seriously hurt after crash on FM 529 near NE Katy
HARRIS COUNTY, TX — Two people died Wednesday following a two-vehicle crash on FM 529 near northeast Katy, according to ABC13.
The Harris County Sheriff’s Office said the accident occurred at 27886 FM 529, near Bartlett Road, shortly after 11:30 a.m.
A preliminary investigation shows a blue Volkswagen SUV was heading westbound at the same time a white work van was traveling eastbound. At one point, one vehicle veered past the center line and collided with the other vehicle in the opposite lane. Authorities said it’s likely both vehicles had been traveling at a high rate of speed.
Three people were transported by airlift to an area hospital with serious injuries. The HCSO confirmed a passenger in the work van and the driver of the SUV were later both pronounced deceased.
No further details have been provided at this time. Authorities continue to investigate.
