Flatbed trailer overturns, blocking multiple lanes on I-10 WB near downtown Houston
HOUSTON, TX — A flatbed trailer carrying machinery overturned Thursday morning, blocking three lanes on Interstate 10 near downtown Houston, reports KHOU11.
The accident impacted the westbound interstate at Hogan Street, northwest of University of Houston-Downtown (UHD). It was first reported by the Houston Police Department shortly before 7:30 a.m.
It was not immediately clear what caused the 18-wheeler to roll onto its side, but heavy load debris on the roadway complicated the emergency response. At 8:34 a.m., Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez said the clearance time was expected to last between 1.5 and 2 hours.
Motorists were advised to find alternate routes to avoid delays in the area.
At this time, authorities have not confirmed any major injuries in the incident.
