2 children critically hurt in multi-vehicle wreck near Aldine High School

HOUSTON, TX — Two young children and a woman were hospitalized Thursday night after a crash at a north Houston intersection, according to KHOU11.

The Harris County Sheriff’s Office said the accident occurred on Aldine Drive, just south of West Road, near Aldine High School. It was first reported at around 7:30 p.m.

Preliminary details show an older woman and two children, ages 3 and 5, were traveling in a Mini Cooper. As the Mini Cooper entered an intersection in the area, it was struck by a Camaro.

Sheriff’s deputies said the two young children were not restrained or in car seats at the time and suffered critical injuries. Both children and their grandmother, who suffered more minor injuries, were transported to a local hospital in stable condition.

Sheriff Ed Gonzalez initially reported three vehicles were involved, but no information on the third driver has been shared.

An investigation into the cause of the crash remains underway. At this time, alcohol is not believed to be a contributing factor.
