Woman’s life claimed in hit-and-run crash in Spring

SPRING, TX – A woman died following a hit-and-run crash in Spring on Tuesday, according to ABC13.

The incident occurred around 12:30 a.m. on the 19900th block of North Interstate Highway 45. An eyewitness told the Harris County Sheriff’s Office that the driver of a Hyundai Elantra drifted off the road and went into a grassy median before crashing the right side of their car into a tree.

The driver inside fled the scene of the crash on foot, leaving their passenger behind without rendering aid or calling 911.

First responders pulled up to the scene and found the passenger, sitting in the front right seat, in critical condition.

EMS rushed the passenger to a hospital, where she later died. She has since been identified as Carlexia Shields.

A full investigation remains underway.
