HPD investigates fatal collision off Katy Fwy service road near west Houston
HOUSTON, TX — A single-car crash Wednesday morning on the Katy Freeway service road near west Houston claimed the life of a 33-year-old woman, according to the Houston Police Department.
The accident happened in the 20000 block of the road on January 24, at around 6:55 a.m.
An early investigation conducted by the HPD’s Vehicular Crimes Division indicates the woman was operating a black Nissan Murano westbound when, for reasons still unclear, she veered out from her lane. The Nissan traveled over a curb along the west side of Fry Road before colliding head-on with a supporting concrete pillar under the freeway.
Paramedics with the Houston Fire Department pronounced the woman deceased at the scene.
No other injuries were reported and no other vehicles appear to have been involved.
