Houston PD dispatched to train derailment crash on overpass above Hempstead Rd. 

HOUSTON, TX – Houston Police were dispatched to the scene of a train derailment crash that happened on an overpass above Hempstead Road on Friday, KHOU said. 

The incident unfolded before 9 a.m., when 11 CPKC train cars, carrying finished vehicles and non-hazardous materials, derailed. Those train cars could be seen leaning over the overpass. 

The impact of the train derailment crash left no one injured, although it warranted a closure at Hempstead Road and Washington Avenue to allow crews to remove those train cars. 

Police are working to determine the events leading up to the collision.
