HPD investigates fatal motorcycle crash on I-69 in SW Houston
HOUSTON, TX — A 32-year-old man lost his life early Sunday, January 28, after his motorcycle collided with an SUV on Interstate 69 in southwest Houston, reports the Houston Police Department.
The fatal accident occurred in the 2300 block of Southwest Freeway (South U.S. Highway 59) at around 12:10 a.m.
A preliminary investigation by the HPD’s Vehicular Crimes Division shows Clayton Craig was riding a blue Harley Davidson motorcycle eastbound. At one point, for reasons still unclear, Craig suddenly changed lanes, causing the bike to hit a red GMC Envoy and an exit barrier. Authorities said the impact sent him off the bike and onto the exit ramp. Moments later, a black Toyota Camry hit the unattended motorcycle.
Paramedics with the Houston Fire Department pronounced Craig deceased at the scene.
Authorities said the drivers of the GMC and the Camry both stayed at the scene and cooperated with officials. Neither driver was suspected of impairment at the scene.
The HPD continues to investigate.
