Hit-and-run driver collides with constable in The Woodlands
THE WOODLANDS, TX – An alleged hit-and-run driver struck and injured a Montgomery County Precinct 2 Constable’s Office investigator at Grogans Mill Rd and S Millbend Dr on Saturday, according to Click 2 Houston.
David Wargetz, 50, was driving a white Honda Civic west on S Millbend Dr when he collided with Investigator Toby McLaughlin while directing traffic at the Ironman North American Championship around 3 p.m.
Following the collision, Wargetz allegedly fled the area.
Rescue crews rushed McLaughlin to Memorial Hermann in serious condition.
Authorities found Wargetz’s vehicle at an apartment complex in The Woodlands. They arrested Wargetz and charged him with failure to stop and render aid causing serious bodily injury.
Wargetz is being held in the Montgomery County Jail. He has a $30,000 bond.
The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the incident.
