Driver fatally collides with tree on Barker Cypress Rd in Cypress
CYPRESS, TX – According to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office, a driver died after slamming into a tree on the 13000 block of Barker Cypress Rd on Tuesday night.
Elshadai Getnet was driving a 2019 Dodge Charger south on Barker Cypress Rd when he failed to negotiate a curve and entered a counter-clockwise yaw, hit the curb, drove into the median, and then slammed into a tree around 8:49 p.m.
Rescue crews transported Getnet to an area hospital, where he died. Getnet’s passenger, Meredith Gerold, was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Harris County Sheriff’s Office Vehicular Crimes Division is investigating the incident.
