Man killed in downtown Houston crash involving Precinct 6 deputy constable deputy driving wrong way

HOUSTON, TX – A 28-year-old local resident lost his life last Saturday afternoon, August 24, after a collision involving a deputy constable in downtown Houston, reports ABC13.

The fatal incident occurred on Canal Street at Live Oak Alley, in the city’s Second Ward area, at about 1:30 p.m.

According to witnesses, a driver was traveling aggressively and on the wrong side of the roadway when their car collided with the victim’s vehicle, which was turning from Canal Street onto Live Oak Alley.

The reckless driver was later identified as a Harris County Precinct 6 deputy constable who was in uniform but was behind the wheel of his personal vehicle while on the way to work.

Despite the intervention of two area residents, at least one of whom identified the victim as one of their neighbors, the victim was unresponsive at the scene.

Authorities confirmed on the following Sunday, August 25, that the deputy constable has been terminated from his position.

An investigation by the Houston Police Department remains in progress.
