14-year-old boy dies in auto vs. pedestrian crash while fleeing police in Pearland
PEARLAND, TX – According to ABC 13, a 14-year-old boy died after a driver hit him while he was eluding police on TX 288 near Modern Grn Dr on Wednesday.
The teen allegedly stole a Kia from his mom and went on a joyride. The boy’s family informed the police, and they chased after the boy.
The boy slammed into a barrier on TX 288 near Modern Grn Dr around 10 p.m. The teen then exited the vehicle and ran across all northbound lanes of TX 288. Police lost sight of him. A driver hit the boy in the southbound lanes of TX 288 five minutes later.
Rescue crews transported the teen to an area hospital, where he died.
