Driver hits, kills pedestrian on W Sam Houston Tollway S near Gene Green Park
HOUSTON, TX – According to Click 2 Houston, a driver fatally collided with a man on the 6500 block of W Sam Houston Tollway S on Friday.
A 21-year-old man was driving when he hit the victim as he was walking across the tollway around 6:43 p.m.
Emergency crews pronounced the victim dead at the scene.
Following the collision, the driver stayed at the scene and cooperated with the police. Witnesses told authorities the driver was traveling at safe speeds. He did not display signs of impairment.
Officials say the victim is a man in his mid-to-late 40s. They have not released his name.
