HOUSTON, TX – A suspect who was fleeing from police died in a crash on the 8900 block of Westheimer Road Sunday night, according to the Houston Police Department.

Authorities tried to pull over a 55-year-old man driving a red Cadillac DeVille heading south on Gessner Road for a traffic violation. The driver refused to pull over and sped off, running multiple red lights. Police did not pursue the suspect.

The suspect continued to run red lights and hit a vehicle at Geesner Road and Westheimer Road. He continued east on Westheimer Road. He ran another red light and hit a white Ford Crown Victoria. The wreck sent the suspect crashing into a parking lot before his vehicle caught fire around 9:20 p.m.
