Fuel tanker driver dies in crash on US 90 alternate near Fondren Gardens

HOUSTON, TX – According to Click 2 Houston, a driver hauling 8,800 gallons of gasoline died in a fiery wreck at US 90 Alternate and Fondren Road on Saturday morning.

The incident occurred around 9:15 a.m.

Firefighters shut down the freeway and stopped train traffic in the area as they worked the inferno.

First responders transported one firefighter to an area hospital for heat exhaustion.

Officials have not released the tanker truck driver’s name.
