US-290 closed after 18-wheeler causes eight-car accident

HOUSTON, TX – The westbound lanes of US-290 near West Road are completely closed after an 18-wheeler caused an eight-vehicle crash Monday morning, ABC13 reports.

According to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office, the commercial truck was driving westbound on US-290 just before 8 a.m. when the driver collided with the median, went over the barrier, and lost its load.

Seven other vehicles were involved in the accident, and at least two people were air-lifted to the hospital.

All westbound lanes are closed, and eastbound lanes are also impacted. There is currently no timetable for reopening.
