Man fleeing police dies in wrong-way crash in NE Baytown
BAYTOWN, TX – A police pursuit that started in east-central Harris County ended with a fatal collision in northwest Chambers County last Thursday.
According to KHOU 11, the accident happened after 8 p.m. on TX-146 between Kilgore Parkway and Devinwood Drive in northeast Baytown, which is approximately 26 miles east of Houston.
The preliminary investigation indicates that a BMW fleeing police caused a head-on crash along the highway.
The suspect was ejected from the BMW, and he succumbed to his injuries at the scene. His name has not yet been released to the public.
Two people from the second vehicle were hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.
Authorities say that Baytown Police initially tried to stop the suspect for speeding and reckless driving.
The accident remains under investigation.
