Police ID oilfield worker struck, killed by semi in China

CHINA, TX – Authorities have released the name of the man who died Monday afternoon in an industrial accident in northwest Jefferson County.

According to KFDM 6, an semi-truck hit 68-year-old Guillermo Contreras of Liberty at an oilfield near Vera Avenue in China.

Contreras succumbed to his injuries at the job site.

It’s not yet clear what caused the 18-wheeler to hit Contreras.

Motorists likely faced delays in the area of Vera Avenue while emergency teams responded to the scene.

A full investigation is underway.
