Hit-and-run driver hits, kills elderly cyclist in Galveston
GALVESTON, TX – An elderly cyclist sustained fatal injuries Sunday in a hit-and-run crash along a major roadway in southeastern Galveston County, reports Click 2 Houston.
The accident happened on 53rd Street near Avenue R in Galveston, which is approximately 51 miles southeast of Houston.
Police say that a pickup truck hit 77-year-old Fidel Estrada on his bicycle early Sunday morning.
Estrada died after transport to an area hospital.
The driver of the pickup truck did not stop to render aid or to speak with authorities.
Galveston Police are looking for a white or silver Ford pickup truck carrying a ladder in the back bed.
