Injuries reported in semi crash on I-10 WB near Brush Island
WINNIE, TX – A driver sustained injuries Tuesday morning in a semi crash that happened along the interstate in northeast Chambers County.
According to 12 News Now, the collision occurred on the westbound side of I-10 near Brush Island Road in Winnie, which is about an hour east of Houston.
The cause of the solo accident has not yet been determined. Police say that an 18-wheeler struck both a water barrier and a concrete divider on the interstate. It’s unclear if other vehicles were involved.
Medics transported the truck driver to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Hazmat teams were called to the scene upon discovery of a diesel spill from the semi-truck.
Officials closed the westbound side of the interstate while emergency crews worked at the scene.
A full investigation is underway.
