Man found dead after shooting and crash Sunday in north Houston

HOUSTON, TX – A man in his 20s died after a shooting and crash early Sunday near Wheatley and Marcolin Streets in north Houston, reports KPRC 2.

Houston police said officers responded around 4 a.m. after a nearby resident called for help. At the scene, officers found a Hispanic man dead outside a home. Investigators said the man appeared to have suffered a gunshot wound. They also found two shell casings near his body.

A homeowner told police he heard gunfire and then a crash. He then went outside and found the victim in his front yard.

Police believe the shooting happened on Wheatley Street. They have not yet identified any witnesses.

Authorities report seeing a white car near the scene. They said the car had no bullet holes, but it may be connected to the reported crash.

The HPD Homicide Division is continuing to investigate the case.
