Pedestrian dies in Houston tractor-trailer crash on North Freeway

HOUSTON, TX – A pedestrian died in a tractor-trailer collision early Saturday on the North Freeway in Houston, reports FOX 26 Houston.

The crash reportedly happened at about 3:30 a.m. in the southbound lanes near the 4400 block of the Freeway, close to Airline Drive.

Investigators say the person was trying to cross the Freeway just before the impact. A tractor-trailer then struck the pedestrian. Officials have not yet identified the pedestrian.

The truck operator remained at the crash site. Authorities said the driver also cooperated with police after the wreck.

Police say initial details suggest there is no reason to believe the truck had been speeding. The investigation remains ongoing.
