Man to face 30 years in prison after 2025 fatal crash in Houston
HOUSTON, TX – On Wednesday, a judge gave a 30-year prison sentence to a man in connection with his involvement in a fatal crash that happened on Interstate 45 in March of 2025.
The incident happened on Monday, March 24, 2025, Fox26Houston said. The man, identified as Michael Arguijo, was driving a red Ford F150 pickup truck when he went over the center line and crashed head-on into a Mitsubishi SUV.
The impact of that collision claimed the life of two of the SUV occupants: 33-year-old Brittany Munive and her 9-year-old son. Muncie’s husband and their 10-year-old daughter survived, although the daughter was left paralyzed from the waist down. The family was coming back from the girl’s softball tournament in Dallas and were less than 20 miles away when the crash happened, officals said.
At Wednesday’s sentencing, prosecutors confirmed Arguijo’s BAC level was at 0.137, which is over twice the legal limit of 0.08. The judge gave him 20 years for the death of the 9-year-old boy and another 10 years for the intoxicating manslaughter of Munive. The judge said these sentences will run consecutively.
The judge also sentenced Arguijo to 20 years for injury to a child, to the 10-year-old girl, and said this sentence will run concurrently.
