Driver detained following collision that injured Houston PD officer

NORTHWEST HOUSTON, TX – One driver was detained following a collision that injured a Houston police officer in Northwest Houston on Wednesday.

The incident occurred before 2 a.m. at the intersection of Clay and Gessner Roads, Click2Houston said.

One driver struck a Houston patrol car traveling west on Clay Road.

The officer inside the cruiser sustained minor injuries and was taken to the hospital for treatment.

Police detained the other driver and evaluated them for a possible DWI offense.

A full investigation is underway.
