Camry crashes into Jaguar, killing 1 on Barker Cypress Road
HOUSTON, TX- One woman died when Christian Rayo attempted to avoid cops at a traffic stop and hit another car on 17800 Barker Cypress Road on Dec. 31st, the HPD reports.
First Rayo drove away from an officer who attempted to stop him at Barker Cypress Road and the Katy Freeway. Rayo had been speeding when the officer tried to stop him.
Then, around 8:30p.m., Rayo ignored a red light and hit a Jaguar X-TYPE at the intersection of Barker Cypress Road and Park Row Boulevard.
Rayo is a 27 year-old man who now faces a charge of murder for this accident. He has been charged in the 208th State District Court. Rayo was sent to the Harris County Jail after the hospital discharged him.
All six people in the two cars involved were hospitalized. One of the hospitalized women died on Jan. 4th. She was identified as Kiara Hurtado and had been one of Rayo’s four passengers. Hurtado was only 12 years-old.
The driver of the Jaguar was hospitalized at Memorial Hermann Hospital. He was 28 years-old.
