Driver entrapped in semi rollover near I-10 EB, Boyt Rd
BEAUMONT, TX – An 18-wheeler hauling hazardous materials crashed along the interstate in southwest Beaumont Tuesday night.
According to 12 News Now, the tanker crash occurred around 11 p.m. on I-10 eastbound near Boyt Road.
It’s not yet clear what caused the semi-truck to overturn. The driver of the tanker became entrapped and required lengthy extrication measures. Police haven’t commented on the extent of the driver’s injuries.
The tanker spilled sulfuric acid into the roadway when it overturned, prompting a response from hazmat crews.
Officials closed the interstate between Highway 365 and Smith Road for several hours while crews worked at the scene.
