Man injured in pedestrian-vehicle crash in Richmond’s Riverpark

RICHMOND, TX – A man was injured in a pedestrian-vehicle crash that happened in Richmond’s Riverpark area on Monday.

According to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office, the pedestrian-vehicle crash happened around 10 p.m. on the 2041st block of State Highway 99.

The pedestrian, later identified as Mark A Freeman, was reportedly standing in the middle of the first lane when he supposedly jumped forward and was then struck by a black 2018 Chevy Equinox SUV.

The SUV driver, Kaelub C. Maddox, was on his way home from work prior to the crash. Maddox said he swerved to try to avoid a crash, but was unable to do so.

Freeman sustained life-threatening injuries and was taken to Memorial Hermann Hospital for treatment.
