Multiple suspects arrested after two pursuits end in crash at Eastex-Jensen intersection
HOUSTON, TX — Two separate police pursuits ended in a crash Thursday evening in northeast Houston, sending two HPD officers to the hospital, reports ABC13.
The Houston Police Department said that the two officers were chasing after two suspects who were fleeing in a reportedly stolen silver two-door Honda Civic in the 2200 block of Little York Road, just after 8:30 p.m.
Investigators said that the HPD cruiser’s emergency equipment and sirens were activated during the pursuit. At one point, a helicopter was also supporting officers in the chase, although reports of a laser aimed in its direction appeared to cause alarm.
The fleeing Honda Civic ran past a red light at the Little York and Aldine Westfield intersection with the HPD close behind. Moments later, the patrol car crashed into a truck that appeared to be traveling on a green light.
The stolen Honda Civic collided with two other vehicles, one of which included a 2003 Chevrolet Silverado that had been fleeing Harris County Sheriff’s deputies for a separate incident.
Authorities said that while the driver and passenger of the Honda tried to flee the crash scene on foot, they were eventually caught and arrested.
The driver and the passenger of the Chevrolet were also taken into custody at the scene.
While two HPD officers were taken to a local hospital following the collision, they are expected to make a recovery. No other injuries have been reported.
