Pedestrian dies in hit-and-run early Monday in Midtown Houston

HOUSTON, TX – A man suffered fatal injuries in a hit-and-run pedestrian crash early Monday in Midtown Houston, reports ABC13.

Police say the incident occurred around 1 a.m. near the intersection of Wheeler Avenue and Fannin Street.

The man reportedly stepped into the roadway, wrapped himself in a blanket, and lied down on the pavement. Then, authorities say, the man was run over by both a dark-colored sedan and a black Chevrolet Tahoe. Neither driver paused to help the man.

Reports indicate that a third motorist noticed the man move after the second vehicle passed over him. That driver stopped and called for emergency help.

Paramedics took the victim to a nearby hospital, where he later died of his injuries. Officials continue to investigate the incident and have not yet released the pedestrian’s identity.
