Suspected impaired driver fatally collides with woman on Autumn Mist Ct
KATY, TX – A suspected impaired driver allegedly ran over a woman at 14200 Autumn Mist Ct on Friday, according to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office.
Kevin Paul Ivey was backing out of a private drive in a 2014 Kia Optima around 10 p.m. Brenda Lee Ivey was outside the Optima on the passenger side and trying to get inside the vehicle.
Kevin accelerated his vehicle, lost traction, and collided with Brenda before hitting a curb. Kevin then slammed into a tree, and the Optima came to rest on top of Brenda.
First responders pronounced Brenda dead at the scene.
Authorities determined Kevin was impaired. They arrested him and charged him with intoxication manslaughter.
The Harris County Sheriff’s Office Vehicular Crimes Division is investigating the incident.
