Teen arrested in fatal hit-and-run along Woodforest Blvd

HOUSTON, TX – A 57-year-old man sustained fatal injuries Friday in an auto-pedestrian crash at a major intersection in northeast Houston.

According to Fox 26, the accident happened on Woodforest Boulevard near Woodforest Square and Normandy Street.

Rayford Howard, police say, was walking across Woodforest Boulevard when a white pickup truck hit him on the eastbound side of the roadway.

Howard died at the scene of the crash.

The driver of the pickup truck did not stop to render aid or to speak with authorities.

Officials later apprehended and arrested 17-year-old Benjamin Lira in connection to the crash.
