Two heavy trucks jackknife, block 610 North Loop in Houston

HOUSTON, TX – Two tractor-trailers both jackknifed early Wednesday and blocked eastbound I-610 near McCarty Street, reports KHOU.

The crash reportedly happened on the North Loop shortly before 4 a.m. The wreck forced officials to close all inbound eastbound lanes. Crews kept the freeway closed through much of the morning rush.

Footage showed two large commercial vehicles involved. One was a FedEx truck, while the other appeared to be a tanker.

Traffic built up quickly as commuters headed toward downtown Houston, and many drivers faced long delays.

Storms had moved across the region overnight. Officials have not confirmed whether wet roads or weather contributed to the collision. Authorities also have not shared details about any injuries or the suspected cause of the crash.

The eastbound lanes reopened at about 9:38 a.m. after several hours of lane closures.
