UPDATE: Victim IDed in DUI crash at Clay Rd, Beltway 8

HOUSTON, TX – Authorities have identified the grandmother who died Tuesday morning in a major accident in northwest Houston, reports AOL.

Police say that 42-year-old Lakethia Montgomery was driving east on Clay Road when a drunk driver ran a red light at the Sam Houston Tollway.

The two vehicles collided, killing Montgomery at the scene.

The victim’s three-year-old grandson was appropriately secured in a car seat in the backseat and did not sustain injuries in the collision.

The drunk driver, later identified as Manuel Neri Mendoza, fled the scene of the crash. Police located and arrested Mendoza, who now faces a murder charge.

The investigation is ongoing.
