Woman faces murder charge after fatally hitting man with vehicle in Greater Inwood
HOUSTON, TX – A woman is facing a murder charge after she ran over a man with her vehicle in the Greater Inwood area on Thursday.
This comes as an update in connection with our previous reporting. New information from ABC13 shows that the woman, later identified as Martha Padilla, had her children with her inside the car before and after the crash.
A man, who remains unidentified, was working underneath Padilla’s car when she pressed the gas, causing him to be pinned underneath.
Padilla drove for two blocks before the aforementioned man, later identified as Luis Adrian Zepeda Lopez, became dislodged and succumbed to his injuries.
Padilla then went into another vehicle and was later found by police and arrested.
Court records later confirmed Zepeda Lopez was Padilla’s boyfriend or husband.
Padilla made a court appearance on Friday. Officials noted she has/had a prior federal immigration case and was deemed a flight risk given the removal history and fleeing the scene of a crash that resulted in death.
