Pedestrian dies after hit-and-run at SW Houston crosswalk
HOUSTON, TX — A man died early Friday after being struck by a vehicle while using a pedestrian crosswalk in southwest Houston, according to the Houston Police Department.
The fatal incident occurred at 10200 Bissonnet Street, in the city’s Westwood neighborhood, at around 2:00 a.m.
Preliminary details show the victim was walking across the street in a marked crosswalk when he was hit by an eastbound vehicle. Authorities said the driver continued away from the scene without stopping to render aid.
Shortly after paramedics arrived on the scene, the victim was pronounced deceased.
At this time, authorities have not released a description of the fleeing vehicle or suspect.
An investigation by the HPD’s Vehicular Crimes Division remains active and ongoing.
