Motorcyclist killed in crash with SUV on FM 1942 near Barrett
HARRIS COUNTY, TX — One person died early Monday after their motorcycle collided with another vehicle on Farm to Market 1942 Road near Barrett, reports ABC13.
The Harris County Sheriff’s Office said the fatal incident occurred on the eastbound side of 1599 FM 1942, at the intersection with Sralla Road. First responders were dispatched to the scene just after 5:15 a.m.
According to investigators, the victim was operating a motorcycle eastbound on FM 1942 at the same time a Chevrolet Traverse was heading northbound on Sralla Road. As a vehicle traveling in front of the motorcycle turned right at Sralla, the motorcyclist moved around the turning vehicle. Moments after the Traverse entered the intersection, it collided with the motorcycle.
The rider was pronounced deceased at the scene, confirmed officials.
It remains unclear whether any charges are expected to be filed, but the HCSO said the driver of the Traverse was not intoxicated at the time of the crash. The district attorney’s office is set to review the case.
The accident created long delays for morning commuters moving toward Barrett Elementary School, west of the crash site. Traffic was diverted onto Bohemian Hall Road and kennings until about 7:40 a.m., when eastbound FM 1942 reopened.
