Tractor-trailer overturns, loses load on I-610 WB in north Houston
HOUSTON, TX — A rollover crash involving a big rig caused long delays for commuters Friday morning on Interstate 610 in north Houston, reports ABC13.
The incident occurred on the westbound lanes of I-610 North Loop at Exit 17B to I-45 North Freeway. It was first verified by Houston Transtar at 5:10 a.m.
Authorities have not said what might have caused the wreck, but preliminary details indicate an 18-wheeler transporting a load of windows overturned. Broken glass and debris was seen strewn across the freeway in the immediate aftermath.
The right westbound lane and exit ramp were shut down for an extended time as crews tended to the overturned semi and the debris.
The partial closure led to a traffic backup that spanned over five miles long. By 11:52 a.m., all travel lanes were reopened.
No information indicating the condition of the semi driver has been made available.
