Motorcycle crash claims 2 lives on I-610 in SW Houston
HOUSTON, TX – A man and a woman died after a motorcycle accident early Sunday on Houston’s South Loop West near Brays Bayou, according to a Houston Police Department press release.
The HPD’s Vehicular Crimes Division said the fatal crash happened in the 4600 block of the highway (Interstate Highway 610), at around 12:25 a.m.
An early investigation found that a 34-year-old man was driving a Yamaha YZF-R1 southbound, with a 24-year-old woman as his passenger, toward the turn-off near South Post Oak Road. The motorcycle appeared to proceed south on South Loop until it struck the west wall, throwing both the male rider and the female passenger off the bike.
Authorities said both riders, who fell onto the ground below, were pronounced deceased at the scene by Houston Fire Department paramedics.
An investigation remains open and ongoing.
