5 hospitalized after METRO bus, Jeep collide near Buffalo Bayou Park
HOUSTON, TX — Five people were sent to a hospital Tuesday morning following a head-on crash in Houston’s Rice Military area involving a METRO bus and a wrong-way driver, reports ABC13.
The wreck took place at the intersection of Memorial Drive and Shepherd Drive, west of Buffalo Bayou Park, at around 5:00 a.m.
METRO Police said that the bus, contracted through Transdev, was hit head-on by a wrong-way driver.
A photo taken by a witness shows extensive damage to the Jeep and to the front-end of the bus.
First responders worked to extricate two people from the Jeep, who were then taken to a hospital along with the bus driver for unspecified injuries.
Two passengers on the bus were also transported to be evaluated for possible injuries.
It’s unclear at this time why the Jeep driver was traveling the wrong way, but an investigation remains underway.
