Wrong-way crash on I-10 EB near Westcott kills 1, injures 1
HOUSTON, TX – One person died, and another sustained injuries early Tuesday in a wrong-way collision along the freeway in west Houston, reports KHOU 11.
Shortly after midnight, emergency teams responded to a crash involving three vehicles on the eastbound side of I-10 near Westcott Street, which is just north of Memorial Park Sports Complex.
Police say that a westbound BMW entered the eastbound side of the interstate and collided head-on with a Tesla Cybertruck. This initial crash pushed the Tesla into an eastbound 18-wheeler.
The wrong-way driver, who has not yet been named by police, died at the scene of the crash after his BMW ignited.
Medics transported the driver of the Tesla to an area hospital with critical injuries.
The two occupants of the semi-truck were not injured in the accident.
