Pedestrian struck, killed by bus near I-45 SB, West Rd
HOUSTON, TX – A man died Monday morning when a bus hit him in a lane of travel on the freeway in north Houston, reports Fox 26.
The accident occurred around 6 a.m. on the southbound side of the North Freeway, or I-45, near West Road. This is near Aldine Ninth Grade School and Aldine Senior High School.
Police say that a male pedestrian was struck by a METRO bus while walking in the high-occupancy vehicle lane of the interstate.
The pedestrian, who has not yet been identified by authorities, died at the scene of the crash.
The bus driver experienced cardiac symptoms following the accident and required hospitalization.
Officials closed the southbound HOV lane on I-45 while crews worked at the scene.
A full investigation is underway.
