Speeding driver fatally injured in 2-car crash in Memorial Park
HOUSTON, TX – Emergency crews responded to a fatal accident in the Memorial Park area of Houston Thursday night, reports Fox 26 Houston.
The two-vehicle collision occurred around 8 p.m. on Memorial Drive near Picnic Lane, just northeast of the Cullen Running Trails Center and southwest of the Memorial Park Sports Complex.
The preliminary investigation indicates that an 17-year-old driver was speeding when his gray sedan rear-ended a white car on the westbound side of Memorial Drive. The impact of the crash caused the white vehicle to travel over the median and into eastbound traffic while the gray sedan collided with an electric pole and a concrete barrier.
The driver of the gray sedan died at the scene; authorities have not released his name to the public.
The driver of the white vehicle went to an area hospital with unspecified injuries.
A full investigation is underway.
