Two drivers killed in head-on crash Saturday on SH 99 in Montgomery County

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, TX – Two drivers died in a head-on crash Saturday afternoon on SH 99 in Montgomery County, reports Click2Houston.

Texas Department of Public Safety said the crash happened around 2:30 p.m. just south of Community.

Investigators say that a 2008 Chrysler Pacifica was traveling southbound when the driver lost control. The Pacifica then crossed into the northbound lanes and crashed head-on into a 2008 GMC Sierra.

Officials identified the Sierra driver as a 35-year-old man from New Caney. He died at the scene.

The Pacifica driver was a 61-year-old woman from Corrigan. Emergency crews transported her to a hospital after the collision, and she later died from her injuries.

DPS said wet road conditions may have played a role in the crash. Investigators believe the Pacifica may have hydroplaned, but they have not confirmed the cause.

Authorities continue to investigate the deadly collision.
