Montgomery Co. deputy fatally hit by commercial vehicle in Conroe
CONROE, TX – A Montgomery County sheriff’s deputy lost her life after she was struck by a commercial vehicle on Interstate 45 on Sunday.
Deputies told Fox26Houston that the deputy, 24-year-old Erika Serrato, was redirecting traffic on I-45 after a separate, alleged DWI crash. During that time, that’s when Serrato was struck by the heavy-duty commercial vehicle, pulling a trailer and two marked patrol units (both of which had emergency lights.)
Truck debris then struck a second deputy, a man.
The second deputy, along with Serrato were rushed to a hospital. There, Serrato died from her injuries, while the deputy was treated for minor injuries.
Serrato was a Montgomery deputy for six years and lives behind her partner, Karlie Mann.
The driver in the initial crash was identified as 34-year-old Ashton Jammer. He was charged with driving while intoxicated and will be booked into the Montgomery County Jail.
