6-year-old dead, 7 people injured in crash with Capital Metro bus

AUSTIN, TX – A child was killed and seven other people were injured in a collision between a bus and another vehicle on 11^th Street last weekend, according to KVUE.

The crash happened at the intersection of E 11^th St and the N I-35 northbound service road at around 2:45 p.m. Sunday, after a driver reportedly ran a red light. The vehicle then collided with a Capital Metro bus.

Two people were pinned within the wreckage of the crash and were rescued by emergency crews.

EMS performed CPR on a child victim at the scene.

Authorities took two children to Dell Children’s Medical Center for treatment. One of those children, a 6-year-old, later succumbed to their injuries and was pronounced dead.

One person was transported to Dell Seton Medical Center to receive treatment for severe, possibly life-threatening wounds.

Two other people suffered possibly severe injuries and were taken to the same hospital for treatment.

Another two people were brought to St. David’s Hospital to receive treatment for minor injuries.

One person refused transport to the hospital.

The crash remains under investigation at this time.
