Driver killed after SUV plows into high water puddle in Houston
HOUSTON, TX – A 30-year-old man died after driving his SUV into high water Friday night on East Orem Drive, reports Click2Houston.
The crash reportedly happened around 9:30 p.m. on May 1 in Southeast Houston.
Police say the man was driving a silver Nissan Rogue west on East Orem just before the incident. The SUV drove into a large puddle, possibly left by recent heavy rain. After hitting the puddle, the SUV struck a nearby curb.
A witness saw the vehicle hit both the water and the curb. They could not confirm whether the SUV had “spun out” after driving through the water.
Another driver stopped and called for emergency help. Houston Fire Department crews responded to the area and attempted to save the driver’s life. Officials later confirmed that the driver died at the scene.
Investigators found no passengers in the vehicle and have not yet released the driver’s identity. The investigation into the incident remains ongoing.
