Man crashes SUV into car while dodging reported gunfire in west Houston
HOUSTON, TX — Authorities responded to a two-vehicle crash Monday that occurred during an apparent shootout on Westheimer Road in Houston’s Mid-West neighborhood, according to KHOU11.
The events unfolded on a span of the road near Fondren Road.
Witnesses told authorities shooters in two different Ford F-150 pickup rucks exchanged more than 10 gunshots at each other as the vehicles traveled down the busy stretch of Westheimer Road.
Both pickups reportedly sped away following the gunfight, and no shooting injuries have been reported, but the activity caused one male driver in an SUV to swerve and sideswipe a car.
No one was injured as a result of that crash, but both vehicles had to be towed from the scene.
Authorities have not released any further information regarding the shooters and fleeing F-150s, and it is unclear whether the incident was road rage-related.
